...‘Polaris. Summer 2009’ is the outcome of the project realized during a polar expedition organized by the Geophysics Institute
of the Polish Academy of Sciences to Spitzbergen.In his work, Bakowski made use of a bear disguise traditionally used in folk rituals
in the south-west of Poland. The performance and at the same time photographic session took place at night time of the polar day.
The photograph shows one of the sciencists - participiant of the expedition - dressed in the life-suit and the mask of the bear,
holding a signal flashlight lamp illuminating the point on the night sky where Polar Star – Polaris, should be expected...
